How to make the Title column clickable (Sharepoint 2019 on prem - Modern XP)

In document library, we would like to have the column Title clickable like the name column.

In the screen capture, you can see that "Name" is underline though clickable, whereas "Title" is not underlined. If we want to open a document from the Title column, we need to double-click on it, which is not very intuitive.Image

We would like to hide the name column and only use the title colum.

In the classic experience we use to be able to select a column "Title (linked to element)", but it's not the case in Modern XP. Any idea why?

I've never been able to achieve this in classic SharePoint, either, and have always considered it a MAJOR oversight on microsoft's part. Name is a file name; many organizations require them not to have spaces, they can't have certain special characters, and may be shorter than the actual title. "Title" is intended to the human-friendly label for the document. It should be clickable right out of the box!

    Hi @stephanie park ,

I understand that you want to make the title column clickable in a SharePoint document library using the modern experience in Sharepoint 2019. Unfortunately, there is no built-in option to do that.

What you essentially need is to merge the "Name" and "Title" columns into one. Display the content of the "Title" column and make it clickable with the url of the "Name" column.

The easiest way is to use the clickable function of the "Name" column to display the contents of the "Title" column to the "Name" column. "Use "quickedit" to copy the content of "Title" to the "Name" column at once.

Then rename the "Name" column to "Title" column. Last hide" "Name "column.

I have the same request, and I believe the issue lies in the filename (Name Column). Many times, the filename contains dashes, dots, or other annotations that can be confusing or do not look good in the library view. On the other hand, the title (Title Column) of the file appears more readable and clear without these obstructive symbols. In my case, I prefer to display only the title of the files in the library view for easy reading. However, I encounter a problem as clicking on the title does not open the file. Could you please suggest an alternative solution, such as adding a second column labeled 'Open'? I would prefer the title to remain clickable for easy access.
