Backup failure of my SQL server

Hi,

I have an SQL database running on an Azure VM and I am getting an error from the backup (see below).

I am unsure what to do for this or how to exclude a disk in the backup

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Description
	VMs with disks having DataAccessAuthMode set to AzureActiveDirectory (AAD) are not supported.


Recommended action(s)
	If using Enhanced Policy to protect the VM then consider excluding such disks from Backup and try again

Your options are to disable ‘Data Access Authentication’ or enable Selective Disk Backup for VM - Selective disk backup and restore for Azure virtual machines - Azure Backup | Microsoft Learn

You will need to use Azure CLI or Azure PS to enable Selective Disk Backup and select/exclude the disks for backup.

Once complete, you can see the selected/excluded disk in the portal.

Re-run the backup and let us know how it goes!

Hi @Ian McGuinness

I'll suggest you try to follow the error message "If using Enhanced Policy to protect the VM then consider excluding such disks from Backup and try again"

Here is how to do it

Thanks for the reply.

I had looked at that guide but I am unable to locate the page in the portal that lists included / excluded disks.

I get to the the backup items page (I think) but there isn't a link to look at the included disks.
