Hi,

We are facing with an issue, when trying to refresh dynamic Excel data (Dynamic export from D365): "This Web query returned no data. To modify the query, click OK, click the name of the external data range in the name box on the formula bar, and then click Edit Query on the External Data toolbar."
As I see it's a long time known issue, but still there is no pemanent solution for this: https://community.dynamics.com/365/f/dynamics-365-general-forum/302537/dynamic-export-to-excel-message-this-web-query-returned-no-data/874964

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/277596/error-message-when-you-update-a-data-query-on-your-excel-worksheet-thi

Some of our users have to go through the workaround steps every time, when they open a new dynamic Excel, but for some of them this issue appears really rarely (approx. once per month.)

I would like to ask what settings can make the difference, or what can be the permanent solution on the application or on the device level?

Thank you for the reply in advance,
Adam

How do you connect to the Dynamic data?
It would be better to give the detailed steps.

    Hi Erin,

    The Excel version is:
    36305-image.png

The issues is exactly as described under the following links:
    https://carldesouza.com/error-connecting-to-dynamics-365-from-excel-cannot-download-the-information-you-requested/
    https://community.dynamics.com/365/f/dynamics-365-general-forum/302537/dynamic-export-to-excel-message-this-web-query-returned-no-data/874964

    Steps:
Dynamics 365 has a native functionality, export the data into dynamic excel sheet. In this case the file contains a hidden, non-editable query, which can run only if D365 licenced user tries to refresh the dynamic data. The issue is, that Excel seems forgetting time to time the login data of the user for this connection (even so the user is loggen in with the same credentals to excel itself)
The workaround from the above mentioned links do work, but what is interesting (and I haven't found explanation) why some users have to to the whole workaround step-by-step every time they open a dynamic excel for some user it happens really rarely. Probably it is realted to some cached login settings, but I could not find any helpful description to entirely solve theis issue.
