Sharepoint / Teams Integration Issue: Links to OneNote Document links work fine in Sharepoint in Browser - but not in Teams SharePoint Integration

Hello I have a Sharepoint site with several links to a variety of MS Office documents - including one for OneNote document - the Sharepoint site has been integrated into teams as a tab and also through viva connections.

The link to the OneNote document works properly when accessed from a browser outside of teams

However when the Sharepoint site is incorporated into Teams clicking on the link provides the following error:

Takes me to a teams Sharepoint site (vs a file) and produces the following error:

"This item might not exist or is no longer available"

All other links in the Sharepoint site work normally and open their respective apps, OneNote documents are the only issue. The link is accurate and works correctly outside of Sharepoint incorporated into a tab in the teams environment, and I created a new virgin OneNote file within Sharepoint and can repeat this result with the link working in the browser environment but not the teams environment.

Simply pasting the link into teams chat does produce a successful result and it opens the app outside of teams in a browser.

Any ideas on why the sharepoint link to OneNote files would fail within the teams client in this way?teams-issue

Whether all users occur this issue?

Whether the OneNote file stored in the OneDrive site collection or SharePoint site collection?

Go to the site collection where the OneNote file stored in -> Site settings -> Site Collection Features -> Deactivate the Limited-access user permission lockdown mode feature.

    Permissions are ok.

Issue is present for all users.

Also appears that a single click will produce the error state but a double click will successfully open item in new window (a little tricky to always get this to happen and of course users will never guess)

To add some more interest - clicking the "notebook: link on the left share-pint fav pane (while in teams) also produces the issue as you can see below.

Largely Teams always seems to want to open one notes in an external browser or app but in this instance it tries to load in its own browser and we get a failure.
