SharePoint Documents with Em dash ( – ) in URL are not being crawled

I have a large handful of crawl errors with the following error:

The object was not found. ( SearchID =<search id>)

I can't navigate directly to the URL of the item being crawled but I can navigate to the library/folder that it resides in. I noticed that all of the documents that are reporting this error have an "em dash" (longer dash) in the file name. I'm assuming that the user created a file using Word and either copy/pasted the title into the file name or the file name was auto-generated by Word via the title in the document that happens to contain an em-dash. I've searched high and low on how Search/Crawl handles em-dashes and I can't find anything.

Is anyone aware of this being a problem? Should I be able to add the em dash to the index rules?? Or do I need to educate my users to NOT use em-dash in their file names if they want them indexed?

I have tested in my SharePoint search and could not reproduce the issue.

First, I uploaded a file named "test-file" in the document library.

    User's image

Then, I did a full crawl, it crawled successfully.

Could you provide some screenshots about files and crawl logs?
