By mentioning the tag in a channel we provide a notification to certain members of that tag, but after the message update with the same tag it sends a new notification for the same message.
Since the update happens every 10 minutes it would be good to avoid new notification on the update of the message, is there a way to handle this?

This is a by design behavior. There is no way to handle this.

Interestingly there is no notification sent if the message update happens within for example 1 minute. What is the behavior by design there?
(there is some that do not send update mechanism and it is very hard to reverse engineer as at 1min eg there is no notification - or am I wrong here?)

I found this chat after noticing that starting today people get notifications for every update of a teams message in a channel. My issue has nothing to do with @ mentions, i have messages without mentions.
Until today, when setting notifications like this:
People got a banner only for new messages, not for updates on existing messages (by editing the message in Teams manually or by using the graph API).
Since today, People get a notification for every new message and for every update of such a message if the update happens some time (e.g. 15min) after the new message. If the update happens quickly after writing the new message, there is no banner.
I really dislike this new behaviour as people get spammed by notifications banners when a message is updated. Is there any way to turn off banner notifications when updating a message via the graph api - by e.g. setting a flag: do_not_notify ?
Currently the behaviour is somehow undefined as sometimes there is a notification, and sometimes not (seems to depend on the time between updates). And the channel notification settings say: "All new posts" - and update is not really a new post, but i understand that you notify, makes sense, if there would only be a flag to avoid it via e.g. a flag.

@Lazar Gugleta - We received an update from engineering team saying, this is by design. Notifications are controlled by Teams Product.
