Hi,

I've been having issues with a few laptops taking a long time to restart or shutdown. Some users reported that it can take up to a couple of hours.

I've tried SFC and DISM with no luck and I'm a bit stuck with what else to try. Devices are on Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 23H2.

Thanks

    Hello Brian Liu

One possible solution you can try is to disable Fast Startup. Fast Startup is a feature that allows Windows to start up faster after a shutdown. However, it can cause issues with some hardware configurations and drivers.

To disable Fast Startup, please follow these steps:

    1. Open the Control Panel and click on Power Options.
    2. Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
    3. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    4. Scroll down to the Shutdown settings section and uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup.
    5. Click on Save changes.

After disabling Fast Startup, please restart the affected laptops and see if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists, you can also try updating the device drivers and BIOS to the latest versions.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
