Edit Form selection is missing in Sharepoint List (Edit columns, Configure layout and Customize with Power Apps)

I want to edit the columns on the form which appears when the user selects the + Add new item. Normally, this is done by choosing the Edit form icon (that one with the pencil in the top right corner):

In my case, this is not visible. I can see only the Copy link selection:

I tried on many browsers and my user permissions are "Full Control".

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Aris

I can add more context after validating some scenarios:

On my hand the issue only appears on the Microsoft Lists frontend.

If I open the list from sharepoint in the sharepoint frontend the edit form icon is visible and clickable.

    Hi @Aris Gkintonis,

Thank you for posting in this community.

I checked your picture, are you using the list form created by Power Apps or InfoPath?

If yes then, then the Edit Form button will not show up. This will override the default SharePoint list form interface and fully apply your list form.

    Hi @Aris Gkintonis,

I carefully discerned your Microsoft List from mine.

I realized that your lists have a very different layout than mine. I can't set up adding items as a dialog box, and your buttons for adding items are different than mine.

Are you doing anything else to the List? Did your Edit form icon also show up on the Add Item dialog before?

I encountered exactly the same issue last week. I even saw the 'edit form icon' disappearing when I opened, closed and reopened the form.

Now the icon isn't there for me anymore when adding a new item.Add New Item

However, it is visible when you edit an existing item:
    Edit Existing Item

So this is where you can still add/remove columns.

I presume the rationale behind removing it from the new item area is to promote the recent upgraded SharePoint Forms.
