Is there a way to display the selected characters in the status bar of Visual Studio 2015?

There is an extension in the marketplace 'Show Selection Length', but that is NOT working for VS2015. Is there an alternative for VS2015?

I didn’t find a similar extension available for VS2015.

If you don’t want to upgrade the VS to VS2019 or VS2022, an alternative is to copy the text to Notepad++. You can see the length of the selected text in Notepad++.
