Hello can a windows server 2003 vm be hosted on a 2019 hyperV failover cluster

I’m asking this because 2003 dosent appear under the supported guest os of hyperV 2016 or 2019

Does this mean that only the integrated services will not work but the vm will still work? Or will the vm not even power on?

    Hi @yuvalwollman-2289,

It might work, I believe the integration services won't be compatible, but this is definitely not supported.

    Hi

For 2019 I can't confirm but for 2016 it work even if it's wrote not supported. You need to install an older integration services by using a 2012R2 ISO.

    Hi,

Although it will work to run Server 2003 VM on Hyper V 2019, we may get some unexpected issues.

It's recommended to upgrade Server 2003 VM to higher supported version as soon as possible.

    Thanks for your time!
    Best Regards,
    Anne

Hello all , thanks for helping out with this issue, Windows 2003 server VM works well as a cluster resource on failover cluster 2019 with no issues, live migration works and the integrated services installed previously works
