Microsoft is forgetting who 90% of their customer base is. Most of us have been using Windows since the beginning. The people who are using this are aging. Most of us Boomers, GenX, and Millennials. Basically 35 and up. I cant get any of my children to even touch a PC. They use phones, or the Chrome laptop they get from school. They refuse to use a PC. I bought them all laptops with 4080s and they still dont use them. The point is, there is nothing you are gonna change that's gonna get them on your platform unless they are forced to. How are we supposed to be able to help them if you keep changing our platform too. We don't learn new things like we used to, and they rely on us for old wisdom.
The older we get the harder it is to adapt to change. When I was younger I did not get it. Migrating from win xp to 7 was not so bad. Going for 7 to 8 or 10 was not fun. I just skipped them and stayed with 7 as long as I could. Windows 11 is about as bad as Vista. I have a laptop with win 11 for 2 years now and that's still horrible to navigate. If I wanted to learn a new Platform I would just get a MacBook. Now my main machine is win 11 and I hate it.
With every new OS you release there is this big change on doing things you have done for many years. Then you finally settle in one that is supposedly the "Last OS you will have to install" only to be forced to upgrade in the blink of an eye(a few years)
These changes hurt productivity. I am sure in 5 years or so we all will have to change os yet again doing the same productivity destroying process.
I hope so lead devs see this and keep this in mind before doing drastic changes on the next platform which I dread coming.
I really hate the start bar, and file explorer. Guess I am gonna load a third party app which I have not done since college. I am 46 now.
