Greetings All,

I've only recently moved to Windows 11 - from Windows 10 via a new PC. As with my old PC, I connect to the internet router via an ethernet cable. My old PC always showed my ISP, both via settings and via the small popup shown when I hovered the cursor over the 'network' icon in the taskbar. However, Windows 11 doesn't seem to do this. All I can see regarding which ISP I'm connected to is the text 'Network 2' (which is not my ISP).

Does anyone know what is happening here? How do I find out which ISP I'm connected to?

Kind regards.

    Hello,

It looks like Win11 recreated a network connection.

You can fix this by using the "Network Reset" on the Network and Internet Settings page.(Settings->Network & Internet->Advanced network Settings->Network Reset)

It is recommended to backup important network configurations before performing network reset as network reset will delete all network adapter drivers and reinstall them, and other network settings will be reset to the original default settings. ( If you don't have important network configurations and virtual Ethernet cards, you can reset the network directly.)

    Best Regards,

    Wesley

That app appears to be an Intel product.

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/details/wireless/killer-series.html

You should be able to navigate to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections here you could right-click on "network 2" and rename it to anything you like.

We don't know where "network 2" came from either but if you want to change it then you'll need to follow the steps I posted above. The killer app is an Intel app https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/details/wireless/killer-series.html

Hi @Dave Patrick , @Wesley Li and anyone else whose interested,

I contacted Intel support yesterday as they are the ones produce the Killer E3100G 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. Their support engineer suggested the I disable ethernet, connect to my ISP's network via wi-fi, then disconnect from wi-fi and re-enable ethernet. Guess what - it worked. When I connected via wi-fi all network info showed I was connected to my ISP's network name (not 'Network 2'). When I re-enabled ethernet my ISP's network name remained (and is there today). So, that fix has solved my problem. I still don't understand why the ethernet controller can't access my ISP's network name but that isn't my problem.

Anyway, as the problem has now been fixed, I'm marking this entry as the answer.

    Kind regards,
