Problem adding an IoT Hub device

Good morning, everyone,

since this morning I am registering a problem with my IoT Hub: I can no longer add device that has Authentication type = X.509 CA Signed

The procedure I follow is the same as always: Home -> Resources -> IoT Hub -> Device -> Add Device, at this point I enter the device name and select the X.509 CA Signed item.

Usually everything works correctly, today however I realized that once I save the changes to the device, in my device recal I notice that the new device has Authentication Type = Shared Acces Signature.

I post below an image that helps you understand the difference between a device that was registered last week and the one I am trying to register today.

As you can see one of the two devices, the older one, has Authentication type = Certicate Authority, the new one on the other hand has Shared Acces Signature.

Obviously I need my devices to conllege with X.509 certificate

Does anyone know how to help me?

Thank you very much in advance

Hi @Andrea Previtali Thank you for posting the question here. I have tested this behavior by Creating a test X509 self-signed certificate and registering a device on IoT Hub. I could see that the device created on the portal shows the authentication type as Self-signed X509 Certificate. Please refer the below image for reference.

The issue you see could likely be an intermittent issue with the Azure portal. I appreciate it if you can test the behavior again and let us know if you see this to be consistent.
