Hello Microsoft Community,

I need your expertise on merging multiple Active Directory accounts within the same forest but different domains. We want to consolidate all accounts into one to optimize license usage.

Key Points:

  • Users have multiple AD accounts.
  • Same forest, different domains.
  • Goal is to merge into a single account.

Specifics:

We're looking for recommendations on effective methods or third-party tools to achieve this seamlessly. Our focus is on merging user data, including email, Teams history, and Microsoft 365 data, into a single AD account without unnecessary license waste.

Challenges:

  1. Multiple AD accounts per user.
  2. Accounts in the same forest but different domains.
  3. Goal is to avoid unnecessary license consumption.

Request for Assistance:

If you've tackled a similar challenge or have insights on recommended practices/tools, your advice would be invaluable. We want to ensure a smooth transition while maximizing Microsoft 365 license utilization.

    Hi @Carter009

If the user has many account , you should :

    1. Start by identifying all users with multiple accounts
    2. Ask users to migrate o365 data (Mailbox, Onedrive,Teams history) to a single account.
User should be able to export all datas (email onedrive) and save on his desktop and then import them using another account
    3. Once all user date are moved to single account , you can move other accounts to unsynced OU to delete Entra account and the o356 licence will be removed automatically.
