    Hello Niclas

The error code 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 and log information always refer to a failure that occurs during the FIRST_BOOT phase when the SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE configuration pass is being processed. This error typically occurs when you are trying to upgrade to a newer version of Windows. The issue may be caused by incompatible software or drivers, or system file corruption.

Here are some solutions to fix this issue:

1.Perform a clean boot: This will start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, which can help you identify if a background program is causing the issue.

2.Update All Device Drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can lead to upgrade failures. Make sure all your device drivers are up-to-date.

3.Disable Your Antivirus Software: Antivirus software can sometimes interfere with the upgrade process. Disable your antivirus software before starting the upgrade. You can enable it again once the upgrade is complete.

4.Disconnect Unnecessary Hardware and run the Windows Update Troubleshooter: You can do this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update, and then select “Run the troubleshooter”.

5.Check Disk Space: Make sure you have enough disk space for the upgrade. The exact amount needed can vary, but generally, you should have at least 20GB of free space.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian

    Hello,

I was able to solve the First_boot Sysprep_specialize on my side when trying to upgrade to Windows 11 by disconnecting physically all external devices from my PC as well as disconnecting the second physical hard drive that I have running linux.

Best Regards and thanks for the shared information!

I found this to be related to the recovery partition being too small to upgrade windows. The recovery partition should be at least 800MB
