Intune device issue relating to being missing from intune and no permissions to reinstall windows

No local admin

policies restricting installations / require admin permissions.

Issue has came back due to pressing "fresh start" and then it didn't do anything but remove the device completely from intune.

Is there any way to get it back into intune?

Thanks,
Jamie.

    Hi Jamie, Since you don't have admin access to the host - the only solution would be reinstalling OS through an USB drive and then you can enroll the host into intune.

    @Mr J Wilding,Thanks for posting in Q&A.

    From your description, I know that you have pressed "fresh start", and the device was removed from Intune and have no permission to reinstall Windows.

    Based on my research, I found that when you click "fresh start", it will remove any apps that are installed on a PC and it will remove settings, and if you do not retain user data, the device will be restored to the default OOBE (out-of-box experience) completed state retaining the built in administrator account. And BYOD devices will be unenrolled from Microsoft Entra ID and mobile device management.

    When a Microsoft Entra ID enable user signs into the device, the device will enroll into Intune again.

    Moreover, if you want to reinstall Windows, we suggest that you reinstall it via USB and re-enroll the device into Intune.

    Hope this can be helpful.

    If you boot the device into recovery mode, access to the bitlocker key in the account which enrolled it enabled it to get through bitlocker and reinstall windows by selecting the "cloud" option.
