How to deal with the problem: “Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG”

I performed a system reset not long ago, and now when I enter "wsl" on the command line, the system prompts "Cannot find registration class, Error code: Wsl/CallMsi/REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG", which also prevents me from opening windows docker

I had the same issue, installing the latest WSL is fixing it. Just get the wsl pre-release from this page and install:

https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/releases/

I suppose it has something to do with the registry not being properly updated, and the re-install from the MSI is fixing it.

Hi，

Please open "Turn Windows Features on or off" from the start menu, disable / enable the “Windows Subsystem for Linux” feature and see if the issue persists. Also give a try to the latest version of wsl.

hey, maybe you need to try install .msi file for wsl, https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/releases/tag/2.0.14

I've run into the same problem. After a windows reset, I'm unable to run wsl commands.

I've tried enabling and disabling the option multiple times with a restart in between, but it doesn't appear to make a difference.

I have the same problem. After Windows Reset cannot open wsl or ubuntu. If I click on Ubuntu on Start menu get window with error 8007019e not enabled. Tried Turn Windows Features On and Repair still get same problem. If I try to run wsl from Command Prompt get REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG. Tried uninstall reinstall did not fix.

I have just run into the same issue.

Fresh reboot, wsl won't open, disabling and re-enabling the option doesn't change anything. Docker closes after a few seconds, stating an issue with wsl.

Any have some extra information yet?

EDIT:

Installing the .msi file fixed it for me! The comment just didn't show up before for me. Thank you!

Hey Sree, I am also running into the same issue and I installed the latest release of WSL from their github releases but still it ain't working. Could you please me more. I have almost tried most of the solution on the internet but still not fixed

Re installation of .msi file ,then usage of command wsl --install (Windows Terminal) , and re installation of docker , solved the error class not registered associated with wsl docker issue .
