I cannot deploy this model, although I submitted a form for OpenAI access and was accepted. I do not have an Azure for Students account. I tried deleting my model instance to see if it was a deployment instance limit but that did not work. Screen Shot 2023-12-18 at 4.18.59 PM

Oh, and the instance is also in West US, so it is not a regional issue

I believe you might have applied Azure OpenAI access using this form: Apply now

Try logging in to the Azure OpenAI studio with your approved subscription related details only. As we know the models are regional available. Try visiting this Model availability page and access the models in the supported regions.

Also please ensure that you have the necessary permissions and access to deploy the models: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/openai/how-to/role-based-access-control

Hello!

So it’s for gpt 4 vision , but with the error you see I can’t seem to deploy any model.

Its strange because it worked previously . So I don’t know what has changed .

I added the openAI contributor role , but am still getting the error ; I am guessing that that is unrelated since it was working before .

Hello @Camille , have you tried with available other resource regions SwitzerlandNorth, SwedenCentral, AustraliaEast? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/openai/gpt-v-quickstart?tabs=image&pivots=programming-language-studio#prerequisites

Were you able to deploy models in this West US region earlier?

@Camille , yes! you can continue using your free credits. Whenever you would like to use more features especially related to Azure OpenAI service/other you may need to upgrade your plan.

Hello @Camille , got it!

This is a known behavior; Free subscription and Azure for Students subscription plans have very limited OpenAI quotas and limits. Even there is a free tier resource limit per subscription.

So, you may need to upgrade to a pay-as-you-go account and acquire more quota. Based on your subscription plan you don't have enough quota at this point to deploy Azure OpenAI models.
