On Dec 18 2023 EDGE browser has failed in several ways.
Upon closing browser: Task Manager show Edge still running after closing;
doesn't clear sites, Browsing, Download History, Cookies, Cached Images etc. (Yes my settings are selected to perform these function)
EDGE worked perfectly to clear sites and data upon closing.
Is it coincidence that this showed up after KB5033372 Windows 10 Home 22H2 update. OR, is there a fix for this version with "Copilot" in it?

I have tested the issue with KB5033372 installed on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 machine.
With the settings below enabled, the Edge works well on my side. My Edge version is 120.0.2210.91 (Official build) (64-bit).
Could you please double check if the settings are turned on properly by going to "edge://settings/clearBrowsingDataOnClose"?
Additionally, you could try uninstalling this KB5033372 update and check if the issue persists.
Thanks. I've done both. I do know there is something 'special' about Windows 10 Home. My machine won't clear on close.
I was able to 'play' with Task Manager: On close there are (13) Edge tasks showing. On open, I stopped the main Edge task then closed browser. THEN on Open again, the Task Disk went up to 50% (as it used to) and actually cleared my selections.
I'm waiting for EDGE to update or fix my problem.

Which version and channel of the Edge are you using? You could check if other channels (like Dev, Canary) have the same issue.
Also, you could try repairing edge by navigating to Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Right-click the Microsoft Edge>Repair, and check if it works for you.
I did repair - no change. I removed all the EDGE I could find and downloaded and installed the New Edge with 'Copilot' .
I saw 'Dev' and Canary but don't understand "channel."?
Both buttons ARE OFF : "Startup boost" and "continue running."

“Dev” and "Canary" refer to the Edge insider channels. You could download it from here to see if there is the same issue.
What version of the Edge you are using? Please go to Settings>About Microsoft Edge, and make sure it is up to date.
Also, if the issue disappears after you uninstalled the KB5033372 update, you could wait for the next Windows update, and check if the issue persists.
as instructed, the issue of "not clearing data on closing EDGE browser" remains, even after uninstalling KB5033372 (however the 'Copilot' button in the lower right disappeared. I also "Repaired" EDGE listed in the 'Uninstall Programs' to no avail.
NOW, should I Download KB5033372 again and wait for the next Stable update? Or, just leave it removed?

I see some known issues on this KB5033372 update. Please note that “Copilot in Windows” is not the same with the “Copilot in Edge”. Windows update will not affect the “Copilot in Edge”.
You could wait for the next Windows update and check if the issue "not clearing data on closing EDGE browser" persists. Also, I recommend you send feedback to the Dev Team by pressing Alt+Shift+I in Microsoft Edge to report this issue.

Edge (by default) continues to run in the background after you've closed the browser window...
(not sure why this decision was made, but...)
Go to:
Settings / System and Performance / (turn off startup boost, and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed"
