PearsonVue Online exam experience:
Good day.
I had the most unpleasant exam experience with my exam today. The proctor was extremely unprofessional.
Here is why:
- The proctor took >15 min to attend to me even though I was the only person in line.
- The proctor, midway through the exam, requested a full room check because I wasn't keeping my eyes on the screen. I tried to explain that I have to look at the keyboard to type, but she insisted (her communication was garbled and I could only barely hear what she was saying - I have a 100Mbps fiber connection with a UPS so my connection was not the problem). I complied. This process took over close to 20 min, due to her terrible connection and sound. It sounded as if she was proctoring on a mobile device and was moving around. Throughout the process she shouted orders at me and treated me as if I was cheating somehow, asking to see every nook and cranny and saying that I am not showing her properly - I'm sure she believed she would find some cheat material somewhere because that is how she treated me. After she was finally done, without confirming that she was satisfied, she asked me reseat and then immediately and disrespectfully said "I will now turn off the chat. If your eyes leave the screen again I will immediately terminate your session. This is your final warning".
- This really threw me off. I was unable to concentrate for the rest of the exam, fearful that she would terminate my session because I don't think she understood that I need to look at my keyboard when I type. Typing without looking at the keyboard is a skill that I unfortunately do not possess.
- As a result, I missed the passing mark of 700, only achieving a 608, rushing through the last questions and leaving 7/47 questions unanswered because of the time.
- I achieved >90% on the practice assessments every time in 8 straight tries - I believe I was sufficiently prepared but the exam environment was not conducive to a successful completion.
These interruptions and disruptions really put me off from the Online experience. I have used PearsonVue Online Proctoring twice before for PMI's PMP and PMI-PBA certifications without issues.
I am unsure now if I will ever be comfortable using this system again. This was a truly unprofessional and unsettling experience.
Please tell me there is something you can do to ensure this does not happen to anyone else. It is currently 02:00 AM here, and I am just so disturbed that I cannot sleep.
Regards,
Ronald
