I have a windows 10 retail key. I upgraded to Windows 11 with that key. I recently changed my motherboard and now I cannot activate my windows license using the same retail key.

    Hello,

When you change the motherboard on your computer, it is considered a significant hardware change, and it may cause your Windows license to become invalid.

To reactivate your Windows license, you can try the following steps:

    1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
    2. Click on the "Troubleshoot" button.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reactivate your Windows license.

    Best Regards

If your Windows 10 license was OEM license, it may be tied to tied to the motherboard of your system. Since you changed motherboard, you might need new license as OEM license is non-transferable.
