How to point to a specific version of webview2 runtime for UWP Apps

Hello UWP experts ,
We have UWP apps that uses webview2 and it is publicly available in the microsoft store store.
The apps references Microsoft.UI.Xaml and it uses webview2 from Microsoft.UI.Xaml.Controls.
So when we tested and published to the store , the webview2 runtime used was 114.0.xxx.xxx.
But Microsoft releases webview2 periodically and it breaks some of the major functionality that was working in 114.0.xxx.xxx . And it takes very long time from microsoft webview2 team to release the fixes for the issues. How can we make sure that we stick to one particular version of webview2 so that it would work always in the customer machines?

Anonymous2024-01-01T01:56:39.25+00:00 I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Are you using webview2 control from the WinUI 2.X NuGet package in your UWP app? If it is, and you still want to use webview2 with the same version as before, generally you just need to keep the same version of the WinUI 2.X package in your app. In other words, please do not update the WinUI NuGet package in your app.
If you are looking for a way that could set the version via code, I'll suggest you ask about this in WebView2's GitHub.

I guess it is dynamically picking the latest webview2 installed in the system ?

2024-01-01T09:00:51.39+00:00 @Roy Li - MSFT So if the Edge webview2 is automatically updated through windows updates in the other system , when we use the app there , in the task manager we could see it is pointing to the updated webview2 runtime. So if the latest updated one has broken functionality it would show up in the UWP app.

I tried with the post build event and that gets copied to the outdir folder, but not getting copied when you execute it or when it is published. How to integrate the webview2 files here for publish/debug /release mode for x64/x86?

2024-01-05T09:40:01.6966667+00:00 Based on the Edge document you post, it's used for WinUI apps. There is no guarantee that this works in a UWP project. And there are also many steps before modifying the project file. You could try to follow the complete steps in a WinUI app to confirm if it works first.
