Microsoft Authenticator app stuck?

Hello,

I recently have made an attempt to log into an old school email, that utilized the Microsoft Authenticator App as a security measure. I have all the details correct as I log into the school portal perfectly, the issue arises when I try to access my email, specifically at the verification stage.

On the Microsoft Authenticator App I input all the correct details in but continuously get stuck at the "Verify your identity" section. When I try to register the account as a new "school account" on the app it requires me to input a code (Which I can't input as the app I'm trying to log in on is the one which is supposed to be providing the code). The only other option is "Approve using the app", yet I receive no notification as the account hasn't been logged on the app.

I've tried everything, from ensuring notifications are on, internet is connected, no blocked callers, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, etc etc. All to no avail, was just looking for help, its frustrating and strange how I need to authenticate it using the app that I am trying to log on it with?
