Problem using Microsoft authenticator app

Question

My son has two outlook accounts which he accesses on his Apple phone. He has just got a new phone and transferred the accounts over. He now cannot access one of the accounts - he keeps getting asked to authenticate the account using the app. However, although he gets a number, he cannot enter the number in the app. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but that hasn’t fixed it.
