Hi,
I have a Win2012 R2 WSUS server need to migrate to Windows 2022 Server. As the DB is using WID, can I migrate it to a SQL server by backup/restore?
We use GPO to configure the client connect to the WSUS server, do I just update it to the new server IP?

You can also take a backup of the database in WID on 2012 and restore it to the new server too, however it's much more difficult than option #3

The old WSUS server is a downstream server already, can It become a upstream server?
Do the new server just run the WSUS configuration wizard, then configure the update source point to the old server, and enable the replica option?
Yes. You just configure the new one to point to the old one, regardless of if the old one is Downstream.
When using this replica method. Do the download content also use the same folder path?
As the disk size have some different on my new server. The download content needs to change from e:\ to d:\
How to handle the download path when use the replica option?
It's a new implementation where you can put the content where you need it to be at the configuration/setup of the new WSUS server. The replica option tells WSUS to download and set the options exactly as what is on the upstream (minus database, wsuscontent location).

No, you create the new WsusContent with the new install of WSUS. It's empty. You enable the WSUS as a replica of Upstream. WSUS then sync's all the data from Upstream including all WsusContent. Then you break the connection with Upstream by saying downstream is no longer a replica and it syncs with Microsoft. Then you change your GPOs to new WSUS Server and decommission your old.
My new Wsus integrate with SCCM for software deploy but we want to use Wsus back. So the WSUSContent and SUSDB is not empty, do you know I can use this method?
