How to update apps in a standalone environment.

I am operating a standalone network that cannot directly touch the internet. Vulnerability scanning revealed that the apps are not updating via windows update (I assume they update via the store). Is there a way to update apps in a standalone environment?

    You can download the updates for the Windows Store apps from the Windows Update Catalog<sup>1</sup> and install them offline using System Center, WSUS, or other deployment tools. However, this method only works for the apps that are distributed with Windows 11/10 editions, not for third-party apps.

    You can use a tool like Ninite<sup>2</sup> to install or update multiple apps at once. Ninite can create a custom installer that you can run on your standalone network. Ninite supports many popular apps, such as Chrome, VLC, Skype, etc.

    You can use the Windows Package Manager (winget) command-line tool<sup>3</sup> to update one or all your apps with a single command. Winget can also create a manifest file that you can use to install or update apps on another machine. Winget requires Windows 11 or Windows 10 version 1709 or higher.

    Microsoft Update Catalog primarily lists updates related to Windows operating system components, drivers, and certain Microsoft applications. However, it may not include updates for all individual apps.

    For Microsoft Store apps, updates are typically managed through the Microsoft Store. Unfortunately, the Microsoft Update Catalog may not provide direct links to updates for such apps.

    For applications that update via the Microsoft Store, you might need to manually download the updated application installer from a trusted source. Then transfer the installer to your standalone network and manually install the updated version.
