Hi Q&A, Is it possible to rename the Front Door from its initial name to another? Could this be done with Powershell?

Hello @KE1980 , AFAIK, it is not possible to rename the Azure Front Door from its initial name to another. Please refer : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/az.frontdoor/set-azfrontdoor?view=azps-5.0.0 "-Name" parameter in "Set-Azfrontdoor" powershell cmdlet is just to provide the name of the existing Front Door which you want to update. Accept pipeline input for this parameter is False and cannot be changed. Hope this helps! Would it be possible to export the Front Door, as a template, an rename it when deployed to a new Resource Group?

I tested your suggestion in my lab but it doesn't work. Exporting the Front Door as a template and renaming it when deploying to a new Resource Group also changes the frontend host name.

A frontend object contains the Front Door default domain and configures the hostname for the Front Door. Name of the Front Door should be globally unique as this also serves as your desired subdomain to route traffic from that host via Front Door.

So you cannot change the name of the Frontdoor without changing the frontend host name.
