Greetings,

I would like to understand how unique permissions in Sharepoint are counted in terms of their limitations. As we know, the limit for unique permissions is 5,000, but to what extent do these unique permissions count?

For example:

•Folder (with unique permissions)

-FolderEX

   *Subfolder2

   *Subfolder2

Folder 2 (with unique permissions)

-FolderEX

 *Subfolder2

 *Subfolder2

If we count all the permission inheritances in this situation, will I still have 4,994 counting all the folders, or 4,998 counting only FolderEX?

    Hi @Vinicius Augusto Palhari ,

As we know, a List or a Library can contain 50,000 items with unique permissions, but the recommended limit is 5,000. If you apply unique permissions on a folder, and the documents in this folder have same permissions as parent folder, SharePoint will treat as one unique permission. So for your example, you have 2 items have unique permissions (Folder and Folder 2), you can define 4'998 items with custom permissions.
