D'avance merci
Fabian.

Hello, I would like to acquire 2 servers in CLUSTER VMWARE (16 Cores per Server).
I would like to take my Windows licenses in SPLA (Rented)
Does a Standard S.P.L.A Windows Server License cover 1 VM that would run on server 1 or server 2 depending on availability?
Are the CALLs well understood in the SPLA?
Thanks in advance
Fabian.

    Some general info

    • Each host needs to be licensed.
    • A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server.
    • Core licenses are sold in packs of two.
    • Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed. For each additional 1 or 2 VMs, all the physical cores in the server must be licensed again.
    • DataCenter Edition provides rights for unlimited Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed.
    • AVMA keys can be used only when the host is DataCenter edition

    @Fabian maertens
    Hi,
You will have to buy the required number of licenses based on the following consideration: one Standard license allows you to run 2 virtual machines.
According to the current Microsoft prices, it is worth to buy the Windows Server Datacenter edition if you are going to run 14 or more virtual machines on one physical host. If the number of VMs is less, it’s better to get several Standard licenses to suit your cores and VMs demands.
Hope above information can help you.

    Dear Support

As a Data Center Provider, trying to follow best practices, what action do you recommend in this case:

    • Cliente has several limitations today to upgrade OS VMs. With huge problems in the current hosting provider request to be migrated as soon as possible with same "OS flavors". That means, win server 2008 and 2012.

SPLA terms and coditions support the scenario? We do not want to have problems in the future with our license provider in case of an internal audit.

    Regards!
    Ivan
