Hello All,

since last friday we are having strange issue: the radius authentication on HP Aruba 2930M doesn't work from time to time. We also have HP FlexFabric Switches - there is no any problem with them. In the logs I see followoing errors:

An internal error occurred. Check the system event log for additional information

nps4

When the authentication is successful, I see another Authentication type - PEAP.

The RADIUS Request message that Network Policy Server received from the network access server was malformed.

nps5

How can I troubleshoot it?

I'm very appreciate any help or ideas! Thank you!

I do not know why, but the NPC did not recognize the RADIUS-Client if the client was a network... if I change it to a separate host - it works 🤷‍♂️ Now I have recreated the RADIUS-Client as a network - everything has worked

    Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your solution, as the problem can be resolved via re-configuration, I am not sure if it is configuration or setting related problem.

Besides, EAP authentication methods include EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP etc. Ensure that the EAP authentication methods configured on the client, device, and authentication server are consistent.

Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) for network access:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/technologies/extensible-authentication-protocol/network-access?tabs=eap-tls%2Cserveruserprompt-eap-tls%2Ceap-sim

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,
    Karlie Weng
