Hello
One behavior in Edge that genius developers invented in their wonder land is this SmartScreen and its superior logic: Block downloaded files BECAUSE they are not commonly downloaded?!!!
Surprising fact is that all files are Windows apps developed in Visual Studio, they all are signed with a valid Comodo code signing certificate (were not timestamped) and are 100% clean in VirusTotal tests!
This window has a report as safe option, but although we reported few times and more than 2 months passed, still no luck!
Wonder how Microsoft didn't face a legal action for this?! Could be a lovely case!
Surely, Microsoft <> Security!
So the only remaining option is such childish headaches for users:
Make sure you trust Microsoft before allowing Edge browser to take over your downloads :)
Follow these steps below:
edge://settings/privacy
.Security

Thanks for the post. From your description, I understand that you have concern on Edge SmartScreen block downloaded files just because they are not commonly downloaded. I totally understand your frustration on dealing with this issue. Please kindly understand that this issue is by design and we need to contact the developer team to improve the function. We recommend that you could submit a feature request to the Dev Team by sending feedback (Press Alt+Shift+I) in Microsoft Edge.
Best Regards,
Ian Xue
