Hi i am trying to network two computers together but i cannot open the other computers files as it asks for network credentials, password protected sharing is turned off but it still persists that i put in a network credential. On the POS computer i can see the network credential username for the desktop pc but it shows there is a password yet i have no log in password for my desktop PC so how do i go about seeing that network credential password and if i am not able to how would i go about solving the issue of not being able to access the files on the desktop PC

Have you checked the Share Permissions and NTFS Permissions? Windows Firewall and Network Settings for Private/Public Networks?

I guees you are in an Workgroup?

I am not a fan of the Microsoft Credential Tresor but you can give User a Password and save the Credentials to the Tresor with the target Hostname/IP also just for testing if this is the Problem.

It could be the problem with no password, but also with permissions.

Maby also try to map it with the cmd (with and without password protected user)

    net use Z: \\ServerName\SharedFolder /user:Username Password

    Hello

Can you access the target PC successfully by entering the username and empty password when the target PC asks for credential? If not, please check share permissions and NTFS permissions as Stefan Stein said.

If you want PC A to access some resources on PC B, you only need to share these resources on PC B. The setting of Network and Sharing Center will automatically open after you set the shared files. The reverse is the same.

    Best Regards,
