Hi after i get past the error below in my new report that occurred while adding my oracle query to my dataset, will i be forced to use an open query in my new report's oracle based dataset or will I be able to paste my oracle query right into the dataset's embedded query box? At the moment ssrs cant even distinguish the fields but it let me continue anyway. I did choose oracle in the data source's drop down and was able to connect. And at the moment would prefer to use an embedded query instead of an oracle proc or package or view. we are just getting our feet wet with converting some of our oracle based reports over to ssrs.

    Hi @db042190_1

For information on using Oracle data sources in reports, you can check out this documentation: Oracle Connection Type (SSRS & Power BI Report Server).

thx Aniya, we are already aware of that doc and actually used it to create and connect successfully to the data source from ssrs.

But this question pertains to what we should plan on doing afterward. I'm listing the core part of this question here again...

will i be forced to use an open query in my new report's oracle based dataset or will I be able to paste my native oracle query right into the dataset's embedded query box?...

...And at the moment would prefer to use an embedded query instead of an oracle proc or package or view.

Hi @db042190_1 You can check out the query section of the document:

I found a related example, maybe you can use it as a reference: https://www.oracle.com/a/otn/docs/database/connecting-ssrs-to-oracle-adb.pdf.

it looks like we'll be putting a native oracle syntax query right into the dataset. I'll post back here when we get this working.
