My PC is used to crashing a lot with the blue screen of death. so I suspect this to be related.

What is the reason for this error.?

This has been an issue since before 2012

Microsoft always blames the hardware

Same error on 3 different PC's 1 Windows 11 and 2 Windows 10

No published solution works on these 3 different PC's

Overclocking has no affect, happens overclocked or not

I have only seen this happen on DIY or upgraded PC's, I have never seen it on pre builds

Over a Decade of this issue that seems to target PC users that do not buy from your partners like HP

This issue is publicly documented for over a decade

I think it is time for a Federal investigation into Microsoft's practices

Having the same problem for a year on a brand new Lenovo pre-build. Formatting the disk and clean windows install helped for a while. But they include some bullshit into the windows update after kind of 3 months passes. Also shutting down windows defender through registry editor makes this things less annoying. I am concerned there`s really some conspiracy here.

I am posting this to help others with the same problem, it appears that the reason for the critical hardware error is my CPU as it has issued a machine check error that caused the WHEA to log the event. I simply installed a new CPU and the problem disappeared. so if you share the same error info as mine (see first question above) try to swap you CPU with something better, if it is relatively new, try to negotiate with intel AFAIK they give 3 years warranty that cover problems like that.

Hi,

Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger with Even ID 1 is related with a hardware error. But from this event log, we cannot determine which part of hardware cause the error.

In order to narrow down this issue, please update all hardware drives to the latest version. Install latest update of your Window OS through Settings\Update & Security\Windows Update.

If the issue persists, we should contact with your hardware manufacturer for more information to check.

I installed all hardware drivers that are most updated the first thing after I installed windows and also did windows update until I got all the changes, after a while there was the October update of version 20h2, the recommendation according to windows is not to update through windows update but to wait for it to be automatic because there might be bugs on certain machines, so I didn't update that latest October update. but except for that everything is top notch and I believe that the fata error happened afterwards when everything was updated.

How do we procedd from here? do you want my hardware spec to contact hardware manufacturers?

i think that i made a bad choice on changing my Dell precision with surface laptop thinking that with surface the win os will be run better and faster like a ios on macbook.

Hi,

The second surface also encounter Event ID 1 which is same with the first one.
We could upload memory dump (%SystemRoot%) to One Drive and paste the link here, we could help to check if any hints from dump file could be found. But we could n't ensure we could get result from dump file. Also log debug is out of this forum support, we just to help to check if we could get clues from it.
