How can I subscribe and integrate the Pronunciation Assessment feature from Speech Studio into a Blackboard course to evaluate learners' Arabic pronunciations?

We're currently exploring the technical steps needed to acquire and integrate the Pronunciation Assessment tool from Speech Studio into the Blackboard learning platform. Our primary goal is to utilize this tool for evaluating the Arabic pronunciation skills of our course learners.

We've already activated the free trial subscription and have unlimited time to record audio for assessments.

Following the suggestion of one of your sales representatives, we've created a resource and a project to activate the pronunciation assessment. However, it hasn't appeared on the left menu as expected. We would appreciate assistance in resolving this issue.

@Center for Innovative Learning Thanks for reaching out, when you say it hasn't appeared on the left menu do you mean you were not able to see Pronunciation Assessment Tool from Speech Studio? Please clarify.

The following regions are supported for Speech service features such as speech to text, text to speech, pronunciation assessment, and translation.

If you have created a speech service but you were not able to see the pronunciation assessment in speech studio as shown below

Instead of free trial subscription could you please try with other subscription like pay as you go?

I tried to repro my side, it was working without any issue. I ask you follow these steps:

Select the Pronunciation Assessment with speech to text from the Speech studio menu.

Select the check box and enter the text before recording or uploading.

Record or upload the audio as per text given in the left side space and it will give the below pronunciation score.

Thank you for your support; I can successfully complete the steps you provided without any issues. However, I am having difficulty figuring out how to integrate this tool with my course on Blackboard. I would like my students to be able to access this tool using their university email and use it without any time limits. The following instructions were shared with me by one of your Microsoft sales representatives: "To access Speech Studio Pronunciation Assessment services, please follow these steps:

Go to the Speech Studio portal and sign in with your Azure account.

Create a new project or open an existing one.

From the left menu, select Pronunciation Assessment.

Choose the language, scenario, and reference text for your assessment.

Click Start Recording and speak the reference text or your own speech.

Click Stop Recording and wait for the assessment results to appear."

I am having difficulty with step number 3; Pronunciation Assessment hasn't appeared on the left menu as expected. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, I am facing another issue when trying to upload audio to the datasets. I attempted to upload an audio file in wav format and mp3 format, but it failed. However, when I tried to upload a sample audio from your website in wav format, it did work. Please advise on how to resolve this issue. Thank you.

Integrate Azure Speech Studio's Pronunciation Assessment tool with Blackboard by creating a new external tool in the Developer Tools section. Configure availability, add it to your course menu, and test for proper functionality. Troubleshoot the issues that arise during the process. This is the general scenario you can follow, but the exact process may vary depending on the specifics of your Blackboard instance.

Regarding the issue with Pronunciation Assessment not appearing on the left menu, it's possible that you don't have the necessary permissions to access this feature. Please ensure that you have the appropriate role-based access control (RBAC) permissions to access Pronunciation Assessment. You can check this by going to the Access control (IAM) tab in the Azure portal and verifying that you have the necessary permissions.

If you are still unable to see the Pronunciation Assessment on the left menu, I request you to raise a support case through Azure portal. Regarding the issue with uploading audio files to the datasets, try upload short audio files with supported audio file formats.
