After updating Windows 10 22H2, the File Explorer search bar became very small. It was horrible. Why did they make this change?

Hello, The change in the size of the File Explorer search bar in Windows 10 22H2 is likely due to design changes implemented by Microsoft. They regularly make updates and changes to the user interface based on user feedback, testing, and their own design principles. Sometimes, these changes may not be appreciated by all users, as personal preferences can vary. If you’re finding the new search bar too small, you can try clicking on it or pressing Ctrl + F to open a larger search pane. Microsoft values user feedback, so feel free to provide your input about this change through the Feedback Hub app in Windows 10. They often make adjustments based on user feedback. Best Regards, Hania Lian

I consider the change in the Windows 10 22H2 File Explorer search bar after the November update to be terrible. It seems like they downgraded the system and I feel like I'm back in horrible Windows 8.1. I will go back to Windows 10 21H2 and block all system updates. I'd rather be insecure than accept horrible changes to the system interface.

Explorer search text too small – Fix found – No software uninstalling or updating required.

    Right-click on Desktop.

    Click Display Settings.

In the Scale and Layout section, first note the scale set, then click on the blue text, “Advanced scaling settings” and type this amount in the box at the bottom.

Click Apply, and when prompted, log out.

Log back in test the result real quick.

Return to the Display Settings and click to turn off advanced scaling and log off.

After logging back in, adjust the desired scale back to where you started using the drop down on Display Settings.

Open explorer and test. The problem should be resolved.
