Why won't docking station 4 work with Surface Laptop 5?

I got the large Samsung monitor (crg9) and tried connecting it to my surface laptop 5 through my Microsoft docking station. It kept making my laptop blue screen so updated my docking station to the new docking station 4 with the thunderbolt connections. I connected the monitor through the ports specified in the instructions; but the laptop won't recognize the docking station at all and obviously won't connect to the monitor. I'm just curious why Microsoft products won't work well together? It's been a very expensive and frustrating experience to constantly try and support Microsoft products thinking they will work together but feel like they just constantly cheat me out of money. Any feedback on why they don't work together is appreciated. I would also like to know why that docking station doesn't have the normal connection to the computer? Why does it need to be a USB-c connections? ;(
