I am trying to create a data catalog for my firm using Purview. However, one of my rquirement is the ability to add custom columns in the asset schema. Currently, it doesnt allow me to add more columns and only has column_name, classification, glossary terms, column description, data type.Screenshot 2024-01-11 at 6.25.37 PM

How can we get the custom columns added? Otherwise, a user will have to click in to each column to see the custom attributes. If there are 40 or more columns on a table, then this is not practical for a user. This needs to be on a summary page, such as schema.

Hi Nidutt Bhuptani , Welcome to Microsoft Q&A platform and thanks for posting your query here .

Unfortunately, there is no option to add an additional column in purview. You need to add the column in the source datastore itself in order for the column to be reflected in purview schema.

However, once the column appears, we can create custom classification rules to define data types in your data estate that are unique to your organization. To know more about how to create custom classification , checkout this documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/purview/create-a-custom-classification-and-classification-rule Hope it helps. Thankyou
