Changing Microsoft account alias issue

I want to change my account alias, but the current email address no longer exists. When I sign in, Microsoft asks me to verify, but given the email address no longer exists, I'm currently can't progress past this point.

Richard Hay 1,351 Reputation points Microsoft Employee2024-01-16T18:18:22.1933333+00:00 If that email address does not exist and you do not have another email address already in that account, there is no way to recover access to that account without the original email.
You may need to create a new account and then merge the two profiles.
