Adding Azure role assignment to automation account

Hi All,

I am trying to add an Azure role assignment to an Azure automation account, so I can connect to SharePoint online using PowerShell. All the examples online use PowerShell for this, but I am not able to get any of the commands to be recognised. So I thought I'd try this in the Azure GUI. I am selecting:

Scope: Resource Group Subscription: *** Resource Group: *** Role: The problem is I can't see anything the list that resembles the PowerShell command (-AppRole "Sites.FullControl.All".

Can anyone offer an advice please?

Per the description shared, are you trying to assign permissions to roles added to your automation account?

If I understand you correctly, you can refer to this article to assign permissions to roles in your automation account: Roles in Automation accounts.

That is correct. I have tried to add the role assignment of "Contributor" but get the error:

Forbidden (403): Insufficient privileges to complete the operation.

Hi @Mattps,

The problem seems to be that you don't seem to have enough permissions to assign permissions.
