Windows Server License in Student Education Pack

Question

I signed up for the Azure Student package and when I checked the Education pack in Azure, it seems to provide unlimited license keys for products like Windows Server 2022 Datacenter and Standard. I want to use the Windows Server for studying and also try opening a service to see if the license will be an issue. Are the license keys provided by Education restricted for commercial use?

Hello The Azure for Students subscription provides you with certain Software Download Benefits that are intended to support your education, non-commercial research, or efforts to design, develop, test, and demonstrate software applications for the above purposes.   The Software Download Benefits are personal to you and you may not transfer, sell, share, sublicense, assign, or lend them. You may only use these Software Download Benefits in a virtual environment if allowed by the specific product end user license.   As a benefit of your Azure for Students subscription, you may use Windows 10 and 11 virtual machines without the need for a Windows 11 Enterprise license. However, it’s important to note that these benefits are intended for educational use and not for commercial purposes.   If you’re planning to use the Windows Server for commercial purposes, it would be advisable to purchase a commercial license.   Best Regards, Wesley Li
