It was recently reported that the Windows Server 2022 Security Update KB5034439, which was released as part of Patch Tuesday to address a BitLocker encryption bypass (CVE-2024-20666), has been failing. The failure occurs when there are issues with the Windows RE partition and deployment, preventing the update from being installed. Indeed, a known issue has been identified with KB5034439. The update fails to install on a PC without a recovery partition, resulting in the error 0x80070643 ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE. However, if your PC does not have a recovery partition, this update is not necessary. Therefore, in such cases, the error can be disregarded.

- Run the update troubleshoot tool. Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update
- Reset Windows update cache manually. Here is the link for reference: Additional resources for Windows Update - Windows Client | Microsoft Learn If the issue persists, we may try to open administrator powershell command line then run "get-windowsupdatelog" for more details to troubleshoot the issue.
