Migrate WSUS by using replica option to another WSUS server

Hi,

I have one Win2012R2 WSUS and a new Win2022 WSUS server. The Win2022 WSUS server is running a few weeks already.

Now we want to migrate Win2012R2 WSUS to the Win2022 WSUS. All Win2022 WSUS data can be removed

Since the SUSDB and WSUSContent of Win2022 is not clean. Can I still configure the Win2022 upstream point to Win2012R2 and enable the replica to migrate the WSUS services?

Hi, @Chong Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

I'm afraid we cannot configure the Win2022 upstream point to Win2012R2 when you have already setup the Win2022 WSUS server, as the documentation mentioned: Replica mode servers can be set up only during WSUS Setup.

I can see the group and software update list and content synced. How to know the replication from source server completed and remove the replica option?

To check if the replication from the source server has completed in WSUS, you may check if all of the updates, all the approvals, all of the groups, and all of the configurations are synced from the old WSUS server.
