how fix 404 error in application gateway

by using the port 80 in backend setting 404 error is showing where as backend is healthy and by using any other port Backend health is showing unhealth ,whereas my backend application is working perfect (web service) is working perfect by default url. how should i fix this issue??

I understand that you are getting 404 error when accessing your Application gateway.
Could you please share the below details?
- How are you accessing the Application gateway, is it via it's IP address or any hostname?
- Are you using a basic listener or multi-site listener in your Application gateway?
- Is the listener associated with a rule?
- Are you using the default domain of the App service or any custom domain in your configuration?

I have tried everything in fact my backend health is also healthy then also it is showing 404 error and my web application is also working fine with default domain then also....

Ishmeet Kaur 85 Reputation points Microsoft Employee2024-01-23T14:06:53.18+00:00 If you are trying to access the Application Gateway using IP address but the Listener type is "Multi site", the App Gateway will give 404 error to the client. To resolve this, simply remove the hostname from the App Gateway listener by changing its type to "Basic" or access the Application Gateway via the configured hostname.

Do you have any NSG on the Application gateway subnet?

In that case, it is likely that the 404 response is coming from the backend. This can be confirmed if you have Access logs enabled on your Application Gateway. There is a property known as "serverStatus" which depicts HTTP status code of the backend server.Since you mentioned that you are accessing your App Gateway on default '/' path, please check if "Override backend path" is set on the Backend Settings of your App Gateway.
If none of above suggestions are helpful, I would recommend opening a Support Request so that the Azure Support Team is able to investigate and offer further assistance.

2024-01-30T14:16:13.7366667+00:00 Hello @Anshuman Srivastava , unless it's an App service on a free tier, you'll be charged even if it's stopped.
To stop all billing associated with your App Service, you need to delete the App Service Plan or scale the App Service Plan to the free tier. For more information, see How much does my App Service Plan cost? and Plan and manage costs for Azure App Service.
Could you please provide an update on the 404-error issue on your Application gateway? Is that issue fixed or you are still getting the same error.
In case you are still getting the same error, we would like to engage with you offline for a much closer look.
