cannot install KB5034123 update from 1-14-2024, despite calling microsoft, using update tool, etc

Question

I see that people with computer skills have figured out ways to do this. the simplest seems to be a download, and then install manually. For a non-business, home computer user, especially in an area with no one to fix problems, this is not very helpful. My system is very simple, with just a few simple apps, like airbnb and Gimp.

Why has microsoft not fixed this, during the last 11 days? It is probably a security risk for lots of people. When I talked to someone from Microsoft (by computer text) they said that many people have this problem, and suggested doing the same things I had already done.

Has anyone gotten in touch with any of the security podcasts or anything like that, to try to put some pressure on Microsoft?

Why has Microsoft not fixed this known problem?

Microsoft continues to advertise various things to me. Are they out of their minds? Of course I would not buy another product when they cannot even send an update that can be installed.
