I have a work Dell Laptop, if I take the power cable out (100% battery charged), the performance of the machine becomes unbearable. It drops from circa 3.40 Ghz to 0.60 Ghz. I understand its to balance the battery and power settings. No matter what I tweak, the laptop is useless without connecting it to the mains. Has anyone else experienced this?

Update BIOS from the support site of DELL.

    • Open the Control Panel and navigate to Power Options.
    • Choose the current power plan (usually Balanced) and click Change plan settings.
    • Click Show advanced settings.
    • Expand Processor power management and then Minimum processor state.
    • Set the value for both On battery and Plugged in to a higher percentage, like 80% or 90%. This will prevent the CPU from throttling down as aggressively.

Yes, it’s a common issue that some laptops slow down when they’re unplugged. This is often due to power management settings that are designed to extend battery life. Here are some potential solutions:   Change Power Plan: On Windows, your power plan might be set to Battery Saver. This plan reduces overall performance when the laptop isn’t plugged in. You can change power plans by clicking on the battery icon in the taskbar notification area, then move the slider to the right to select a performance profile.   Disable Dell Extended Battery Life: If you have Dell Extended Battery Life enabled, try to disable it. It’s found that it throttles the system significantly. One user reported that replacing the battery resolved the problem.   [‎Laptop slows down when unplugged | DELL Technologies](https://apc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dell.com%2Fcommunity%2Fen%2Fconversations%2Finspiron%2Flaptop-slows-down-when-unplugged%2F647f970af4ccf8a8de9efd9a&data=05%7C02%7Cwesleyl%40wicresoft.com%7C408fa227d94349333cb208dc23c62dd9%7Cb2ae8dd9097749768706861b488b1512%7C0%7C0%7C638424581301213474%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=Qa7uYW5OHyYv0g14HnkwhznQwBbOJdMMkZQZmCiN48M%3D&reserved=0"原始 URL: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/inspiron/laptop-slows-down-when-unplugged/647f970af4ccf8a8de9efd9a。如果你信任此链接, 请单击或点击。")
