Running very large Excel files on VM in Azure

Hello Azure Community,

I am new here and only have basic IT skills, and I'm trying to work out whether Azure is right for me. I have an enormous Excel file (800MB) which has a Macro and takes about 20 seconds to re-calculate on each step in the Macro. My current PC has i9 processor/80MB RAM/64-Bit Excel/16 threads. Should/can I use Azure VM with say 96 threads and more RAM to speed things up significantly? I'm happy to pay the per hour charges if it will speed things up.

Many thanks.

    Hi David,

Yes, you could run it on more powerful [than your local PC] Azure VM, provided you have the proper licenses (e.g. M365 Business Premium, M365 E3/E5, etc.).

Whether or not it will be faster is something you will need to test. I don't know how different hardware variables affect your specific workload.
