However, due to a recent update in forum policy, the question author now is not able to accept their own answers.
So I have written a brief summary of the solution this issue. Please feel free to accept it as the answer, which would benefit others who also has similar issues in forum.
Since I've started using the "new outlook" application I'm experiencing this weird issue: when I want to open an attachment in the desktop application I receive the error "Something went wrong when opening your file. Please try again later."
The below action may be useful:
1.OP have changed my password.
2.Just received a "new" outlook update.
