Hi, First, Set A1="Male", A2="Female" in an Excel sheet and name "Sex=$A$1:$A$3".

  1. In the data validation dialog box for B1, specify "Allow"="Sequence", "Source"="=Sex". Then enter "Any" in B1 can pass the data validation.
  2. However, if you specify "Source" = "=$A$1:$A$3" in the data validation dialog box of B1, the data validation cannot be passed when you enter "Any" in B1.
  3. This is not the case for "Sex=$A$1:$A$2".

Thanks!
