We received this email asking us to migrate to the Authentication methods policy in Entra ID by 30 September 2025, however we recently received an email within the last few months to migrate to the Authentication methods policy in Azure AD by 30 September 2023 which we successfully completed. Do we need to take action here and perform a separate, new migration?  This is confusing as they are now referring to Azure as "legacy Entra ID" and essentially asking us to migrate the authentication methods policy from Azure (Legacy Entra ID) to Entra ID.

Hi Kevin Grace Thank you for reaching out. I understand you have confusion due to the dates regarding the migration of Authentication methods policy. In March 2023 we announced the retirement date of September 30th, 2024 for managing authentication methods in the legacy MFA (per-user) and SSPR policies. We have extended the same to September 30th, 2025. Same has been documented here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/authentication/concept-authentication-methods-manage#legacy-mfa-and-sspr-policies If you have already made the changes, you can ignore that mail. Hope this will help.

    Thanks,

    Shweta
